Project Overview

Love Bug & Honey is a seasonal illustration and printable design project created for Valentine’s Day. The goal was to design a fun, romantic, and whimsical love letter template that could be printed and gifted to a loved one.

This limited-time seasonal piece features charming illustrated characters, blending playfulness with warm, heartfelt aesthetics. The design was created to be easily downloadable and printable, making it accessible for users who wanted to add a personal touch to their Valentine’s messages.

Brand system development, sales enablement materials, product surface applications, and visual standardization across print and presentation formats.

Challenges

Balancing illustration with functionality, ensuring the design was visually engaging while leaving space for a handwritten message.
Making the template user-friendly, so that anyone could print and use it with ease.
Ensuring proper attribution for the editable EPS file, preventing unauthorized use while allowing customization.
Setting up a licensing model for commercial usage while maintaining free personal access.

Solution

To create a delightful and easy-to-use printable, I:

Designed a whimsical illustrated header, incorporating playful love bug and honey-themed characters.
Curated a colour palette featuring warm pinks, yellows, and reds to evoke love and warmth.
Formatted the template for print, ensuring proper margins, resolution, and space for writing.
Exported a high-resolution PDF for quick downloads and a fully editable EPS file for design professionals.
Packaged the EPS file with a ReadMe.txt, outlining usage rights:
- Personal use: Free
- Commercial use: Requires payment & attribution
Created a ZIP file for easy distribution, ensuring all necessary files and licensing information are included.

Process

Sketching & Concept Development – Explored romantic and playful motifs, finalizing the Love Bug & Honey theme.
Illustration & Colour Refinement – Created the hand-drawn characters and decorative elements, ensuring they complemented the message space.
Printable Formatting – Designed the layout to be functional and visually appealing for a variety of printing options.
File Optimization & Export – Finalized the template as a high-resolution PDF and editable EPS, including proper attribution measures.
Hosting & Monetization – Set up download links for the PDF and added licensing information for commercial EPS use.
